Management Accountant – Energy Sector

Our client, a leading player in the energy sector with operations in both South Africa and Europe, is seeking a dynamic and highly analytical Management Accountant to join their team. Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the Accounts Payable function and support financial reporting up to Management Accounting level.
• Maintain the general ledger in Sage for Energy Drive projects, ensuring data accuracy and relevance.
• Produce monthly management accounts with insightful financial commentary.
• Prepare and manage accurate working capital forecasts.
• Oversee the administration of bank accounts, including foreign exchange (FX) transactions.
• Ensure a smooth and efficient year-end audit in collaboration with the finance team.
• Assist in preparing and agreeing to annual and project budgets.
• Process VAT & PAYE returns on a monthly basis.
• Manage the purchase ledger, ensuring suppliers are paid on time and maintaining accurate financial records.
• Reconcile balance sheet control accounts on a monthly basis, ensuring auditable records.

Qualifications & Experience:

• A degree in Accounting/Finance or equivalent qualification.
• Professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA/SAIPA/SAICA) will be advantageous.
• Proven experience in management accounting, ideally in the energy sector.
• Proficiency in Sage or similar accounting software.
• Strong analytical skills with a solution-oriented mindset.
• Knowledge of FX transactions and working with international accounts is a plus.
• Ability to work effectively across teams in a fast-growing, multinational environment.
